Why bother?
Because breakthrough and freedom from substance abuse does not come easy. So we practice getting out of our comfort zone through camp craft, bushcraft, hiking, and rock activities to show participants that they can overcome! Whether it is reaching the peak of a mountain, or establishing healthy disciplines & routines, we encourage participants through physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and social growth!

Hear some stories of overcoming.
Our aim is to provide healthy outlets, networks, and activities that will help individuals break free from substance abuse and addiction and develop discipline, community, and purpose. Working in cooperation with other local organisations and with the sponsorship and support of the Derbyshire Recovery Partnership, we will meet weekly near Shirebrook, Bolsover, and hold a larger activity in the Peak District once a month.
FAQs
We know you've got questions, thats why we've tried to answer them here
Sometimes. Our project will have a wide range of activities to participate in, however most activities will require the ability to walk moderate distances, climb or scramble over rocks, or navigate muddy paths through the woods. We will be happy to refer you to our other partners if you have reduced mobility and are seeking help!
For most activities, you need to be able to get to Shirebrook. We will start from the Brook community centre, and if our activities aren’t within reasonable walking distance to Shirebrook, we will be arranging transportation from there. For our monthly events, we arrange van pickups from various spots around Derbyshire.
You should be prepared for activities in the outdoors. Comfortable clothing and shoes (preferably boots, walking shoes or trainers) that can get dirty, and a jacket for the inevitable rain. We will provide any specialist equipment needed for activities, and will have some items you can borrow like rucksacks, wellies, waterproofs, etc.
Yes! and No... our activities take place in the outdoors, sure--but you don't need to be Bear Grylls or a professional athlete! In many cases, far from it...
